Elizabeth Olsen is starring in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, which will be released May 5, 2020. She recently sat down with Empire Magazine and discussed the project. Read on for some exciting tidbits about the upcoming sequel!
Elizabeth shared that the movie is definitely not Gorgon: "We are definitely not Gorgon," she says. "We're not even in the same galaxy." She explains, "It was a lot of fun to get back into Peter Quill's suit, but we can't use the Evil Spider Gecko."
Here's what we know about the new character played by Zoe Saldana: "It's a young woman who has a pet dog that she shares with the Nova Corps. In her dog costume, she also has a visor that doubles as a pair of goggles. She's from a planet called Korath, which is actually the same name as the star system where the Nova's were in the first one."
"Korath is this futuristic planet that's a lot more metal than Gorgon," says Elizabeth, "and they use weapons as she does. She's an assassin and is completely ruthless."
New Film
What's exciting about the new film is that it features an all-new alien race, and this time, they are led by Peter Quill (Chris Pratt). Elizabeth explains, "When we meet him, he's basically the first generation of people that have ever set foot on Korath. So it's a different experience for him, which gives us a different kind of dynamic in terms of his relationship with the various characters."
Other than the fact that Chris Pratt is back as Star-Lord, this movie introduces a new character known as Cateblix. Elizabeth says, "She's a young girl from Korath who has a psychic ability. It's the same power that got her banished from her home, but she decides to come back because she wants to help save the galaxy."
OK, enough about that. You're probably wondering what kind of superhero wardrobe Elizabeth uses in the movie. And it turns out she wears something really funny:
"It's a superpower outcast costume," she says. The film's producers wanted her to wear something a little bit out of the ordinary, so they went with that. Elizabeth adds, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Marvel universe, and I'm really excited to see what else they have in store for us."
These costumes aren't the only weird costumes Elizabeth uses in the movie. We found her wearing a costume that looks like Captain Kirk's to make that statement.
Elizabeth explains, "That's me in his Captain Kirk costume." For the most part, the actress simply adds a few accessories pieces to the original costume to make it match the rest of the movie.
