e.l.f Essentials Luscious Lipstick - Ruby Slipper Swatch
I have been using e.l.f liquid lipstick-ruby slipper quite some time now. I got it for a dollar from a dollar store in America. It comes in a standard cardboard packaging with plastic body cover. Which shows how drugstore this product is. The actual stick is very unique, it is a plastic body but has a spring rotator underneath which brings out the product from the sponge applicator present on the other end. This makes the product which sleek and compact.
The sponge applicator has holes to bring out limited quality of product and it gives a very nice application. Since it has slant it's it's fits very nice on your lips and is very comfortable to use. The packaging is not flimsy but yes it is totally plastic and isn't anything fancy as other products seen in the market. The quantity is somewhat bad as it is almost 1.5 g of product. But it’s just a dollar.
Coming on to the quality of the product. The product is exactly like a gloss. I don't know why it is called a liquid lipstick when it is really not one. Despite that it is very smooth as one would expect it to be but it is sticky like anything. It is so sticky my hair keep sticking to it constantly. It does hydrate your lips and gives it a nice moisturizing effect but it does not last for a long time. It does fade away after almost 4 hours and the color would disappear in like an hour or so. It just feels like a tinted lip gloss and there's nothing like a liquid lipstick but given the price you can't really compare.
The color is very Indian even though this is not easily available in the Indian market. it is a mixture of red and pink hints into it and it has golden sheen which makes it a very Indian shade. It looks very nice on the lips and gives a nice luscious, as they’d call it, look to the lips.
Now coming onto my favorite part it's the flavor of this gloss. It is a very yummy minty flavor. I personally am a big fan of this refreshing flavor. It is so unique, yummy and delicious all at the same time. It won't last for a very long time it's just a momentarily feeling you get. Also it gives a little bit of tingling sensation because of the mint which I feel plumps my lips a little bit even though the company does not market it as a lip plumper.
Pros of ELF Essentials Luscious Lipstick:
Affordable
Unique shade
Easy to use
Light and sleek packaging
Cons of ELF Essentials Luscious Lipstick:
Difficult to get in India
Not enough quantity
Flavored ( this is for the sensitive skin people)
If you are somebody who is not a big fan of cooling sensation on your lips or mint flavored things you will be very disappointed with e.l.f luscious essential lipstick because it's extremely prominent in this lip gloss. But for me I really enjoy it. I like the pluming feeling it give and the yummy mint taste. Overall a good lip gloss at a decent price.
