Story: Elevation starts in an invaded world where humanity it forced to live at high elevations. Below the line, creatures hunt and kill anything they find, and humanity is running low on options. Will (Mackie) protects his son Hunter (Boyd Jr) who has a breathing problem. When his supplies run short, he turns to Nina (Baccarin) and Katie (Hasson) to risk their lives for a new supply run.
The journey takes them into a new area they never explored and a place where the creatures have control. However, they can’t turn back because failure means the death of Hunter and Will won’t let that happen.
Verdict on Elevation
Recap
The movie follows a father who risks everything to get supplies to save his son’s life. He travels with two other members of his community into a territory filled with deadly creatures. Those creatures have already wiped out most of humanity and this race is one he can’t lose.
Best Parts
The end-of-the-world creature destruction movies are always entertaining. This brings the peril and the threats creatures have along with the power they possess. It is a fight for survival and steps into the idea of the bigger fight. There are elements of A Quiet Place, where humans must adapt before it is too late from a deadlier invader. We get good performances from the three main characters and deep down, this feels like we could see a video game adaptation exploring the world even more. The way the creatures explore and sense is interesting and posses a newer threat to everything one it comes in contact with.
Worst Parts
The creatures have one unique design, but outside of that, they look like a copy of the creature in ‘The Host’.
Final Thoughts – Elevation is a wild survival thriller.
