Electric Citizen, the Cincinnati-based four-piece who are currently in the midst of a European tour with Wolfmother, stream their forthcoming album, Higher Time (May 13, RidingEasy Records), via Noisey (http://noisey.vice.com/blog/electric-citizen-higher-times).
“Our music is not for a select group of cool kids,” said guitar player Ross Dolan in a recent interview with the Cincinnati City Beat, who described the 10-track album as “thunderously heavy” and “melodically nuanced.” “You know, the doom genre is only for doom fans, and it’s not going mainstream. I want my music to be for everybody.”
Following the 2014 release of the band’s debut album, Sateen, Electric Citizen spent most of the intervening months on the road, leading to a natural evolution when it was time to return to the studio. The band, now brimming with new ideas, elected to re-team with producer Brian Olive (The Greenhornes, Dan Auerbach) once again but a new fan, Black Keys’ engineer Collin Dupuis, invited the band to mix the album at Auerbach’s own Easy Eye Studio in Nashville.  “He’s so incredible at what he does and of course being at Dan’s personal studio, Easy Eye, which has just about every piece of cool vintage equipment on the planet,” said singer Laura Dolan of Dupuis in a recent interview with National Rock Review.
