Electric Cadillac Lyriq shows off its charging port as debut draws closer

Cadillac has a lot to do with its transformation into General Motors' leading brand for electric vehicles, and we will get our first impression of its electric future on August 6th Cadillac Lyriq will debut.

Cadillac chooses the teasers beforehand. It was posted on Twitter on Thursday and shows the charging port of the Lyriq. Apart from the massive door that hides the charging port (and the Cadillac logo), we also catch a glimpse of the wheels of the electric vehicle. Another addition is the "GM Design" badge at the bottom, which somehow reminds me of GM's "badge of excellence" from previous years. It was the tiny chrome GM badge that was placed in a similar location on all vehicles of all GM brands to better connect them.

Aside from a dark teaser a few weeks ago, we don't really have much to do when it comes to the final design of the electric vehicle. Sure, we have them Original sketches from 2019, but we have to wait and see how well this translates into a production SUV.

Still, this will be a big debut for Cadillac and GM - especially after that delay the debut in the middle of Corona virus Pandemic. The Lyriq was supposed to be the automaker's first EV to drive on its new BEV3 platform that made room for it Ultium Battery technology. The technology that should help Tesla better hunt in the future should have a range of 400 miles.

Stay here because we'll likely see a few more teasers before the big unveiling in a week from today.
