Dear Luke and Leia,
I think it’s time for an action-packed El Valle de Anton mountain getaway for a nice weekend retreat from Panama City. El Valle de Anton offers cooler weather, great things to do and spectacular sights starting from the top of the mountains before heading into the valley. We’ve been there before. The hardest part is to pick out just what to do in this short time of visiting.
Los Pozos Termales – The hot springs
We can go to Los Pozos Termales, the hot springs in El Valle to rub some volcanic clay all over our bodies and take up the healing properties in the clay. Or we can just give ourselves a clay facial. People do both there.
The Town Market
Shop for some high quality, low priced produce at the farmers market or pick up some local crafts from the souvenir market.
APROVACA Orchid Center
How about a beautiful walk through the orchid gardens at Aprovaca Orchid Center? Their goal is to protect the many endangered orchids in Panama. This is where to come to see the variety of orchids that grow wild in Panama.
Swimming in a Mountain Spring swimming hole
If the temperature is hotter than usual, I vote for a dip… or maybe a jump into the swimming hole after a brisk hike up the mountain.
El Nispero Zoo and Botanical Garden
Let’s not forget the “Non-Zoo” zoo called El Nispero Zoo and botanical garden, which was never intended to be a zoo, but it just turned out that way.
El Serpentario – The Reptile Zoo
My vote is for visiting the small center for reptile conservation in town. They even have dangerous snakes like the Fer-de-lance and Bushmaster, the ultimate pit vipers.
Birdwatching
Or we could hang out and feed the birds at Cabanas Potosi resort. Since our hostess is so kind and loves feeding the vast variety of birds to see in El Valle de Anton, staying put and bird watching could be the best choice.
If we were to take you to El Valle de Anton, which of these activities would you like to do?
Love,
Nana and Pap
