Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

Ek Main aur Ekk Tu

So I decided that my love for Imran Khan (sometimes he looks like a tarsier, yes, but I think he’s always wonderful) overrides my aversion to Kareena Kapoor and that I would watch this movie they both star in, Ek Main aur Ekk Tu. I really enjoyed the experience of watching the film. I think the director did a fabulous job with bringing life to this script and each scene was a joy of its own. The only thing I didn’t like was the plot. Hah. Before you read any further: SPOILER ALERT!

I cannot understand why Bollywood continues to send this message that if you are persistent with your love, even if someone just wants to be friends, that you will  triumph in the end. This strikes a chord because I’ve known girls that tell guys they’re not interested in a relationship but then want to maintain bff status, hug, and cuddle. Wut. How is that not a relationship? Please, just give me everything except your manparts, kthx. Um, get some girlfriends or gay guy friends willing to fit those roles.

Both parties are accountable, obviously, and maybe the guys just need to “grow a pair” but I hate that kind of rhetoric especially when it comes to relationships. The male species comes with feelings too. Sometimes. Regardless, we can’t just take advantage of people like that. Anyway, I see this a lot with people here in America that were raised in the motherland; guys trailing after girls that repeatedly tell them they’re not interested, but the guys keep trying (for years sometimes!) because they’re just crushing that hard and think it’ll eventually happen because love prevails. Well sometimes it doesn’t. Desperation is unbecoming and stalking means its time to see a therapist. Be real with yourself. Love and respect yourself–that comes first. All else will follow suit. Maybe. Probably. I don’t know. But I have learned that I have never attained happiness by settling for less than mutual love and respect. And my life is full of love. Yours probably is too. Even if you don’t always see it or feel like it.
