A total of eight political parties and 15 Independent Groups have placed deposits for the upcoming Local Government (LG) election as at 4.15 p.m. yesterday.
According to the Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Rathnayake, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has placed deposits for all the Local Government institutions in the Kalutara, Colombo, Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts, while the National People’s Power (NPP) has placed deposits for all the LG institutions in the Hambantota District. The other districts for which the deposits have been placed are Badulla, Kandy, Vavuniya, Galle, Ampara and Gampaha.
