STANDING ARMY is an investigative documentary that looks at the history and reality of US military bases, starting from the controversy spurred by the unveiling, in 2006, of a US plan for a new military base in Vicenza, in the north of Italy.
The question we pose is a simple one: why do the United States insist on expanding their overseas military empire, in a world supposedly dominated first and foremost by the market? Is the free market really as "free" as they say, or is it subordinated to each player's firepower?
