Edward Snowden: Bewilderingly Stupid

Posted on the 01 July 2013 by Charlescrawford @charlescrawford

It is interesting how quickly these heroic WikiLeakers plummet into self-ridicule.

Here is E Snowden moaning about his current situation:

He says President Obama is putting pressure on the countries from which he has requested political asylum.

"The president ordered his vice president to pressure the leaders of nations from which I have requested protection to deny my asylum petitions," he is quoted by Wikileaks as saying. "This kind of deception from a world leader is not justice, and neither is the extralegal penalty of exile. These are the old, bad tools of political aggression. Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me."

Given that these folk appear to be smart enough to do clever things with computers, why are they so surprised that when they break the law and betray confidences certain consequences follow? Rather than face reality and accept responsibility for their actions, they start whining and scuttle off to countries far less democratic than those they love attacking.

Meanwhile the same Guardian newspaper that proudly rails against the overweening power of government when it comes to e-eavesdropping hoots for More Government on practically every other policy issue.

Isn't this all just a bit ... embarrassing?
