Editor’s Event of the Month: Chicago Food and Wine Festival

By Urbanmatter Chicago @UMatterChicago

Looking for a festival that’s a little more tasteful and refined than most? Chicago Food and Wine Festival fits the bill perfectly.

The festival boasts cooking demonstrations and Grand Tasting tents during the day. At night, the bustling tents are disbanded, giving way to delectable food & wine pairings in an intimate white tablecloth atmosphere.

You can take on the delicious cuisine and vino all day, or you can attend select portions of the fest and skip out on those you aren’t interested in. Your choice.

Event Breakdown:

Feast Under the Stars
Friday, Aug 28th at 6:30pm

Before the hustle & bustle of the daily events begin on Saturday, Chicago Food and Wine Festival kicks off with their pre-festival dinner party at Lincoln Park. You’ll get to experience a locally crafted five-course meal prepared by award-winning chefs from the fest.

Toast & Taste
Saturday, Aug 29th from 7pm-9:30pm

Situated against a backdrop of the city’s skyline and featuring signature dishes from some of America’s greatest chefs, this evening event falls into the “don’t miss” category fairly easily. Add in a chance to explore Grant Park with a drink of choice in hand while live music falls pleasantly upon your ears, and you’ve got yourself an unforgettable experience.

Last Call
Saturday, Aug 29th from 9pm-12am

Taking place directly after Toast & Taste, Last Call shifts the venue a few streets down to Block 37. This sips and sweets nightcap highlights extraordinarily prepared desserts with signature cocktails & wine.

Grand Tasting
Saturday & Sunday, Aug 29-30

Chicago Food and Wine Festival’s main event, the Grand Tasting, showcases over 90 wine, spirit & food vendors from across the country. The tasting is topped off by celebrated local and regional chefs at the Chef Showcase. You’ll get the unique chance to meet some of the city’s most esteemed chow magicians and sample some of their best-prepared dishes. Many of them will even be hosting book signings.

Last but certainly not least, you can also take part in over 30 different cooking demonstrations. The schedule is as follows:
