Edible Rakhi

We moms always wait for the occasions to express love and affection. The best opportunity given to us is the Raksha Bandhan, a festival of bonding between brother and sister.  The day of love and affection is just around the corner and all the sisters are geared up preparing for the festival. This Raksha bandhan give a personalized touch to the festivity by making edible rakhis for your kids. Involve them in making these adorable and healthy dry fruit rakhi for added fun. Hey, I can hear your mind voice, you hate to be trapped in kitchen during such festivals right. Cool, I can empathize with you. That’s why we have this easy to make edible rakhi which do not involve any cooking and can be made ahead of time, so that you can enjoy the festivity with your loved ones and not in the kitchen.

How to make Edible Rakhi ?

Edible Rakhi do not involve any cooking and can be made ahead of time, it’s a healthy dry fruit rakhi, which would add fun and excitement to the festival.

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 dried figs / Anjeer
  • 2-3 candied cherries
  • Satin Ribbon
  • 2 tablespoon colorful sugar coated fennel seeds.

Method:

1. Take a satin ribbon of the length enough to tie it to the wrist.

2. Give a simple knot in the center of the ribbon.

3. Pass the 2 ends of the ribbon inside the central hole of the fig , such that the knot covers the hole and the two ends of the ribon hold the fig securely. Now apply slight pressure at the center of the fig and close the hole, so that the ribbon stay there.

4. Next arrange the sugar coated fennel seeds around the edges of the fig in artistic way.

5. Using a rolling pin press the fennel seeds lightly so that they stick to the fig.

 6. Lastly place half of a candied cherry on the center to cover the satin ribbon knot.

 7. Repeat this process for rest of the figs.

 8. Our edible rakhi is ready ! Isn’t it so easy and fuss free?
