Hello everyone,
I get such pleasure in writing about products that are eco-friendly. It’s wonderful to see the number of companies that are putting out these products. I try to do my bit by introducing my readers to some of these companies and their products.
Recently I was contacted by a representative from WAC Lighting commenting on how much they enjoy my eco-day blogs. As you can imagine, it made my day. It’s always nice to be acknowledged for your work. I was curious and had to take a look at their product line. They specialize in a type of eco-friendly illumination: organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting. You may not be aware of OLED lighting design but we see it almost every day. It’s beginning to replace LCD technology in handheld devices such as PDAs and cellular phones.
It turns out that the products of WAC Lighting have a wonderful streamlined industrial look that’s sleek and very modern. They have an OLED chandelier with a matching OLED wall sconce. I was hooked. I immediately pictured the chandelier in the dining room with the sconce in the living room. This style of lighting will look great almost anywhere in your house. And it’s mercury-free, dimmable, and has a 5,000-hour rated life!
The company’s president, Shelley Wald, very aptly states “Our OLED luminaires are eco-friendly and sustainable, they showcase a unique light source from an ultra-thin aesthetic design.”
The Vela OLED Chandelier is laser-crafted from aluminum, with 12 OLED panels that illuminate surfaces below and 12 additional OLEDs that shine upward to render a soft ambiance that evokes a lighter sense of space and visual comfort. We all know how lighting can create the perfect atmosphere, whether it’s for a romantic evening or for entertaining some friends.
Let me show you the beauty of these two lighting designs and you’ll see why I like them.
A profile view, look how thin this is.
The sconce. Reminds me of something you’dsee in a science fiction movie, don’t you think?
Here’s an example of how the chandelier can look in a kitchen. Very soft and very appealing.
What do you think? Gorgeous, isn’t it? Put it on your home remodeling wish list. I know I will.
Another reason that I was thrilled with WAC Lighting was their pledge towards Responsible Lighting. This company has over 25 years in the lighting-design industry. It recently changed its logo and tagline to “Responsible Lighting.” Also, the owners have made it their mission to give to their communities by way of pro bono professional work or personal services. Finally, if they haven’t done enough by giving to their community, they also provide monetary donations to companies like the American Red Cross, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center and the Gift for Life International, a non-profit organization whose mission is to save as many children’s lives as possible by providing life-saving open heart surgery to children with congenital heart defects. They treat children from infancy to 18 years of age.
I learn something new every time I research products for eco-day. Like I’ve said before, eco-day is one of my favorite days to blog.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Simone
