I’ve been told before not to underestimate the goodness of food in Philadelphia. Although a smaller city, Philadelphia is said to have some of the best American food. During my day trip to this city, I had brunch at Supper, a modern American cuisine restaurant in Washington Square. I was drawn in by the restaurant’s vintage-elegant decor and the quirkiness of its name.
Since I had to get up at 6am to catch the bus that day, I was super exhausted when it was time for brunch. Naturally, I ordered a coffee to pick me up. The coffee here was quite good, it was smooth and not too bitter.

For my entree, I ordered the classic American Hoboken Benny. This was one of the best Bennies I’ve had in my life because every bite of it tasted amazing. The cheese and the eggs worked so well together to give a strong flavor that accompanied the ham. Best of all, I didn’t feel that much oil was used at all.

My friend got the Supper Frittata, a cheesy egg dish with hash browns. The cheddar cheese in this frittata was amazing in that it was very tasty and obviously fresh. With all that’s in it, this frittata is a super filling dish and yet comes with a toast as well.

Awkward as it sounds, Supper serves great brunches. It’s too bad I’m not in Philadelphia long enough to try out more of their food, as I’m sure that there’s a lot more delicious food lurking around in America’s most walkable city. Nevertheless, I was very happy that I got to have such a good American brunch in Philadelphia – try it out if you’re ever around there!
