EAT: Naam – Natural Foods

By Jsleigh14 @jsleigh14

Unless you live in Downtown Vancouver, a McDonald’s meal may perhaps be all that you can find at four in the morning. But just recently I’ve been introduced to Naam , the hangout spot for those who are starving in the middle of the night. The Naam is a 24hr full-service vegetarian restaurant that is located in Kitsilano. They’ve been around since 1968, so they must be doing something right to keep them in business for so many years. This restaurant specializes in natural foods, so they only use pure and fresh ingredients. It’s already a treat to have a serviced meal at odd hours, let alone a healthy one too.

When I went to Naam early in the morning it was rather quiet and my food came very quickly. The dining area was furnished with wooden tables and chairs, giving it a warm and comfy atmosphere.

To start off my day on a good note, I ordered the Naam Special Breakfast. I had it with poached eggs, pancakes, veggie sausages, and home-made fries. The serving was so big that I couldn’t finish it. The eggs were probably my favourite part, although the pancakes did put up a good fight. The sausages were good too as I couldn’t even tell that they were vegetarian, but the potatoes could have been more flavourful. Altogether this was a very satisfying breakfast, to say the least.

The Naam offers a great variety of healthy foods at literally any time of the day. Their menu doesn’t change throughout the day either, so you can have breakfast at midnight if you so desire. It’d be nice if Vancouver gets more restaurants like this so us night owls can always grab a good bite to eat.
