I mean what's better than a fresh cabbage salad. Call it coleslaw if you like. However, for me, this is a certified salad!
Recipe for Cabbage Salad
If you Google 'difference between a salad and coleslaw', you'll get something like this:
"Salad is a mixture of raw or cooked vegetables. There are many types of salads, and coleslaw is one type of salad. The main difference between coleslaw and salad is that coleslaw always contains shredded cabbage, whereas salads do not necessarily contain cabbage."
Oh, gosh, I beg to differ!
Napa Cabbage Salad
For me, cabbage can be the mainstay of a salad! yes, you can also add a mixture of raw and/or cooked vegetables.
And, you can use a variety of types of cabbage like green, purple (or red), Napa, Savoy, Brussels sprouts. And, did you know that according to Spruce Eats, bokchoy is in the cabbage family.
Crunchy Cabbage Salad with Almonds
There are so many other things that you can add to this recipe. I'm just giving you a foundation. You build it as you wish.
Nuts would be awesome. Almonds. Walnuts. Cashews. Salted Peanuts. Salted pistachios. It's all up to you.
Coleslaw with Apple
And, there's nothing tastier than a salad with apples. Coleslaw with apples gives you that punch of sweet and juicy. Salads with apples are the bomb.
If apples are your cup of tea, then experiment. Why not juicy bites of pear, pineapple, watermelon, cantelope, mango, and more.
Apple Raisin Slaw
And, don't overlook dried fruit. Raisins. I love the golden ones. They just seem to be more plump and tasty in a salad.
Then there's dates. Yes, these chewy bites of natural sweetness. I'd recommend the whole dates. Remove the pits (or buy them pitted) and then chop into smaller bite sizes.
Apricots! Oh, goodness, dice them up and get a burst of tang. Hey, my mouth waters as I write about this!
