Easter Monday 2015

EASTER15-2

Today in France and all over Europe is Easter Monday, part of the Easter holiday. In the U.S. many places are closed for Good Friday but it’s the opposite in Europe, where Easter Monday is an official Bank Holiday and most things are opened on Friday.
I was invited to a lovely Easter lunch feast Laurie and Blair’s house and they put out a marvelous spread of smoked haddock, olives, tapenades, blinis, and country pate, followed by tender, juicy roasted pigeon, carrots, and potatoes. In case that wasn’t enough we had a platter of cheeses, homemade tiramisu, and Easter chocolates. Laurie hand painted eggs for the occasion.
There are Easter Egg Hunts/Roule Ma Pole all over town and Velib, the public bicycle system in Paris is sponsoring one today. More than 500 chocolate covered chickens will be hidden in the baskets of bikes in 9 Velib stations around Paris. Every hour, a new station will be unveiled. Follow Velib on Twitter and Facebook for clues throughout the day.

Below are photos of Easter eggs from shop windows and displays. I wish you a Hoppy Easter and a good Passover.
