We just love photographing relaxed, happy weddings in Yorkshire and from the moment we met Kelly and Akira we simply couldn’t wait for their big day. Not only were they getting married at East Riddlesden Hall, which has to be one of our all time favorite Yorkshire barn-wedding venues but also their plans sounded simply amazing.
Kelly & Akira wanted a wedding with a chilled out atmosphere and authentic, natural wedding photography that really reflected their personalities. Music is very important to them and from the very start they wanted to make sure that it played a big part in their day. In their own words: ‘we want to make sure it’s a day to remember, not just for us but for all our guests as well!’ We couldn’t agree more with those sentiments and simply couldn’t wait to get some super-awesome, East Riddlesden Hall wedding photography for them!
The day got off to a fantastic start – to reduce any stress of travel and keep that chilled out vibe strong, Kelly and Akira had decided to get ready at the same location. The beautiful Westfield Lodge was their venue of choice. Idyllically placed in the breath-taking countryside near the little village of Haworth, Westfield lodge has numerous self-catered apartments on site – just perfect for accommodating all those nearest and dearest that help get your day off to a flying start.
I just love the fun and excited atmosphere that is created when the couple are getting ready in close proximity but are trying to avoid seeing each other. Kelly and Akira were both in fantastic moods and Jaye and I (Matt) had a brilliant morning capturing some really natural and fun Yorkshire wedding photography. As Akira departed for East Riddleden Hall, Kelly even had time to enjoy a drink with her bridesmaids and just soak up those beautiful Yorkshire views.
In an emotional ceremony in the beautiful Airedale Barn at East Riddlesden Hall, Kelly & Akira tied the knot. Then it was outside for confetti and to enjoy a few drinks and games in the afternoon sunshine.
Photographing Yorkshire weddings sure is awesome when there are so many happy smiling faces around and we just loved all the super cool and music related details that Kelly and Akira had filled the barn with – the record table names & seating plan, temporary tattoos, buttons… so much care and attention had gone into the details and creating a space that really reflected their personalities.
After whisking Kelly & Akira off for some laughter-filled, East Riddlesden Hall wedding photography, it was back into the barn for a gorgeous sit down meal and speeches. We just love it when couples add a little bit of awesome into their speeches – Akira had done just this and soon had Kelly wiping away big tears of happiness with her performance of a song that she had written specially for her on their big day.
An amazing performance from Marc & Abi of Jonny Ross soon had the dance floor absolutely leaping. At one point, I think that literally everyone at the wedding was out on the dance floor and having an amazing time!
Kelly and Akira, I’m sure everyone will have many happy memories of your big day for a long time to come – we know we will! You guys smashed it!
