EA has revealed more details about its much-anticipated EA Sports FC 24 – the follow-up to FIFA 23 and their first football game in nearly 30 years not to use the FIFA branding. The announcement came alongside the release of a trailer and the game’s Ultimate Edition cover.
The trailer for EA Sports FC 24 features a montage of gameplay footage, showing off the game’s new engine. EA says that the new engine will deliver “the most realistic and immersive football experience to date.”
The Ultimate Edition cover for EA Sports FC 24 features a star-studded lineup of players, including Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan. The cover also includes a variation of the games logo, which features a stylized football inside of a circle.
EA Sports FC 24 is set to be released in September 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and mobile devices. The game will also be available through EA Play and Xbox Game Pass subscription services.
In a statement, EA Sports CEO Andrew Wilson said that the company is “excited to usher in a new era of football gaming with EA Sports FC.” He added that the game will “deliver the authentic, real-world experiences that fans love, while also providing them with new ways to connect with the sport they love.”
The announcement of EA Sports FC 24 comes after EA Sports and FIFA ended their long-standing partnership in October 2021. The two parties could not agree on a new licensing deal, which led to EA dropping the FIFA name and re-branding the video game franchise. To confuse matters more, FIFA have also announced that they will develop their own football games without any input from EA.
Despite losing the licencing deal, EA has said that their game will still feature real-world teams, players, and competitions.
