Pakistan is among the world’s growing economies. The best approaches should be implemented in order to enhance the pace of its growth when taking into account the key elements that account for this development process. Local assets and global trends are the two leading components complementing a country’s development and advancement. The best asset a nation possesses is its youth within the regional regime, while the competitive global environment on a global scale is typically the most significant impact factor that reshapes the fate of growing economies around the world.

The ever-evolving world developments are redirecting the power of youth to align the mechanisms of local development with global regimes. Evolving global trends not only impacts the wealth of the countries in terms of income and task force but also affects local communities on long-term social and psychological grounds.

One of the most important global phenomena these days is self-employment and “the freelancing” in general. Freelance work or the gig economy worldwide is a fast-growing trend in jobs. The international job trend has been changed by the freelance industry around the world. It is, therefore, an important sector in which Pakistani youth must invest their time and energy to be known worldwide.

Punjab Government launched a training program under the Punjab Information Technology Board, called e-Rozgar in 2017, to meet the current international standards and demands on digital skills and freelancing. The program encompasses 36 districts with 40 job centers in Punjab that provide cost-free practical training related to freelance work and virtual skills. This program has myriads of ways to affect local lives. Revenue generation is the first and foremost influence of this education. The total revenue produced through this initiative has exceeded PKR 3.75 crores within the eight-month period. Diverting unemployed youth to self-employment immediately reduces urban inequality.

Through e-Rozgaar Training Program, the educated young generation desperate for well-paid jobs would profit, receive a lucrative amount of money in a dignified manner, and eventually contribute to the current state of poverty reduction. Not only does this initiative impact the youth from a financial perspective, but it also produces some deep-rooted, long-term psychological effects, such as mitigating discontent among unemployed youth. The trained youth who remain unemployed get angry, depressed, and discouraged if they struggle to get their dream jobs.

e-Rozgaar Training Program encourages educated youth to earn well through freelancing, grow a variety of skills across different domains, and foster a culture of entrepreneurship that diverts the potential of youth for positive purposes. Definitely, this energy diversion makes the youth more optimistic, self-reliant, and positive resources for a sustainable economy.

By developing skills, e-Rozgar also polishing local talent. In this regard, the long-term impact of developing a digital, creative, and entrepreneurial ability to survive and compete in an ever-changing world is evident. This skill development training is also meant to shift Pakistani youth’s vision from the mode of survival to the mode of learning and progress. This is one of the best seeds it practice is sowing for the whole country’s long-term benefit.

The social one is another significant long-term influence. This curriculum empowers men and women alike, all sexes. The online freelance work allows for stay-at-home parents, physically challenged men and women, and culturally-ridden people who are unable to go for site-specific, time-bound 9-5 jobs. Not only is the learning restricted to urban populations, but the same advantages often apply to rural populations.

Unemployment has been a very vulnerable point in a conflict between the educated youth and the local government for a long time. This program acts as a connecting tool to build trust between the local government and the unemployed youth as it bridges the gap between the youth and the officials of the government. This clearly indicates that the government does not turn a deaf ear to the current problems faced by the youth of Pakistan.

Last but not least, a positive image of Pakistan is generated by e-Rozgaar. Talented Pakistani professionals represent their country in international forums through global connectivity and earn respect for themselves and their homeland. These freelance writers, developers, designers, and entrepreneurs also promote Pakistani culture through the global marketing of local products, the sharing of information through forums, and the growth of tourism through the introduction of Pakistan through their work on an international scale.

e-Rozgaar training program is just the beginning of a journey to make Pakistan stand out in the global regime. A well-resourced youth from Pakistan is a key element to fulfill this democratic vision. To make full use of Pakistani youth’s ability, this education program should be expanded to cover up Pakistan’s other regions.
