Congress was occasional accused of being out of touch with technologyand comments on today's rapid photo processing, done Wednesday by some convention officials, will not help that perception.
The Opening ceremonies There were several commemorative gift presentations, including a number of custom vases and two freshly printed and framed photos of the swearing-in events for President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris.
California rep Kevin McCarthy was the first of the two photo hosts and commented, "Modern technology, right?" as the Bidens drew nearer.
This theme of amazement at technological advances continued during the official speech. "With modern technology, these images were captured just minutes ago. The story is emerging for the whole world to see," said McCarthy.
Maryland representative Steny Hoyer handled the rest of the bipartisan gift exercise and called the image of Biden's ceremony "a testament to technology".
Hoyer was not wrong in his assessment, but fast photo processing is technologically rather old-fashioned. "LOL, McCarthy and Hoyer are giving Biden and Harris instaphotos of the inauguration like they just got off the hot new roller coaster at Six Flags." joked Washington Post reporter Mike DeBonis on twitter.

One-hour photo processing boomed in the US from the 1980s and was a popular option for amusement park visitors who wanted to remember how their heads were screeching on the rides.
If anything, members of Congress should have been impressed with the snappy frame job.
