Dulcinea at Robinsons Magnolia

Whenever my family and I dine at Dulcinea, we would always order churros con chocolate. Why, you ask? Well, there's something fascinating about this Spanish dessert. Just hearing it makes you want to eat one right away. And Dulcinea is the first place that comes to mind when we crave for one.

The branch we always visit is Tomas Morato; however, we were at Robinsons Magnolia that day. So I checked my Zomato app and found out that they're located on the third floor.

Dulcinea Restaurant

This classic restaurant has been serving Spanish cuisine with a Filipino touch since 1963, over 50 years now. But do you know who founded it?

It was Señor Santos Ruano. He travelled from Spain to the Philippines in 1961 and opened up a little pasteleria on Mabini Street in Ermita called Dulcinea Pasteleria y salon de Te. With his knowledge and his grandparents recipes, he introduced various Spanish dishes and sugary treats including the traditional Spanish dessert that we all enjoy. Churros! Fast forward to the present, Dulcinea continues to uphold the tradition set by its founder.

As mentioned, Dulcinea's Robinsons Magnolia branch is located on the third floor. The place features an adequate and clean space filled with simple but beautiful traditional Spanish decors. It just feels like home. My abuelita loves the place, too especially the view since it's on the third floor.

When it comes to food, they still don't disappoint. Their classic churros con chocolate is pure bliss as well as their pastries.

Other dishes worth trying are:

Baked Spaghetti: formerly known as their espagueti a lasagna, spaghetti tossed in their signature lasagna sauce, topped with bechamel and then baked to perfection!

Pesto: a traditional sauce made from basil, nuts, garlic, cheese and olive oil.

Tuna Sandwich: a delight for the tastebuds, shredded tuna in their special sauce served with french fries.

Cheeseburger: flavorful beef patty served with a side of fries.

Oh by the way, their Tropical Fruit Shake is really good!

My favorite besides the obvious churros and Tropical Fruit Shake is the Baked Spaghetti. Yeah, sure it's just Baked Spaghetti but Dulcinea's signature lasagna sauce really leveled up the taste. It's worth a try. Promise!
