Mobile World Congress, an yearly affair that showcases the upcoming smartphones and the technology inside them, was cancelled earlier this month. It was a precautionary measure against the spread of Covid-19, commonly known as the Coronavirus. As a result, the participating brands have since then taken to the internet to make the corresponding announcements. The latest of them is the South Korean manufacturer LG, who has announced their latest flagship under the V-series of smartphones, the LG V60 ThinQ 5G.
The name, though mouthful, confirms the support of 5G network bandwidth. Other notable features include better audio, a bigger battery, and an improved dual display.
LG V60 ThinQ 5G features
The device boasts of the same P-OLED screens as before, with Full HD+ resolution (2460×1080 pixels) and 20.5:9 aspect ratio; only the size has increased to 6.8-inch. The secondary screen works like a phone case, and can be folded all the way behind the main display via the 360-degree hinge. A 2.1-inch monochrome display on the outside acts as a quick glance screen for notifications and other relevant alerts.
LG V60 ThinQ 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. Connectivity options include 802.11ac/ax Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and X55 modem for 5G. The smartphone is IP68 certified, thus making it dust and water resistant. It comes with 8 GB RAM and 128/256 gigs internal storage (with a microSD slot for expansion). Android 10 is deployed, along with a 5,000 mAh battery.
The primary camera is a f/1.8 64 MP shooter combined with a f/1.9 13 MP wide-angle and a time-of-flight lens. 8K video recording is supported. The secondary camera is a 10 MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture and 72.5-degree field of view.
Four high-performance microphones are included. The concept of ' Voice Bokeh' is expected to separate the user's voice from background noise. Sound quality is enhanced by a 32-bit quad DAC and other technology from their OLED TVs. The proprietary Sound Engine is apparently capable of recognizing the type of content being played and optimizing the sound accordingly.
Quoting Morris Lee, President LG's Mobile Communication Company,
"Our strategy is to introduce differentiated 5G devices to meet the rise in consumer demands as the global 5G market matures. The LG V60 ThinQ 5G with the Dual Screen is the ideal device for consumers who love to create, consume and share content in the 5G era."
