In response to a Catholic News Service article carried by National Catholic Reporter noting that the U.S. Supremes have taken several same-sex marriage cases this term, dove writes,
There is no history of successful gay marriages for anyone to compare anything to.
And Dan1234567 lets him have it:
Uh-uh. You don't get to saddle me with all the negativity you conjure up about homosexuality and, at the same time, wash your hands of all the instability that straight people have foisted on society. If you are going to take that approach, then you bear responsibility for wife-swapping, out-of-wedlock pregnancies, depraved singles' bars, wet T-shirt contests on spring break, Elizabeth Taylor's eight marriages, Zsa Zsa Gabor's nine marriages, the Kardashians (good Armenian Catholic family, BTW), ...
You can't have it both ways, Dove.
How many married gay people do you know? Of course, your answer will be "none," because you don't recognize the status of their marriages. But, I'll tell you, many same-sex couples have marriages as happy and successful as yours. You do not get to pronounce them as "unsuccessful."
