Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London announces the launch of an Orient-inspired signature cocktail menu by recently arrived head mixologist, Christian Maspes, at GŎNG, London’s highest bar. The launch of the new, multi-themed mixology menu coincides with an extension of the bar’s opening hours and subsequent addition of more ample dishes to the existing food offering – making it the ultimate destination to escape the city’s bustle, from day to night.

Christian, who joined the hotel after several years spent honing the art of cocktail making at some of London’s most iconic establishments, has crafted a spectacular variety of innovative, Orient-inspired cocktails. All served against the dramatic 360-degree backdrop of London’s skyline, the new list is divided into four categories featuring a wide range of Asian spirits. Many drinks’ presentation is a nod to their Oriental inspiration.

Certain cocktails explore the idea of a journey and the mythical land of Shangri-La, whilst others make a point to awaken and play with the senses. Forgotten classics, such as an El Jimador and Brandy Crusta, are heightened with a modern twist and – in keeping with the bar’s emphasis on top-quality London-based distilleries – drinks, such as the botanical Romeo & Juliet, celebrate the local area.

To mark the launch of the new signature cocktail list, GŎNG now opens daily from midday and offers a wider selection of dishes from chef’s signatures, such as, Portland Crab with Mango, Passion Fruit and Cucumber to a choice of open sandwiches and salads.

After dark, the glamour extends across the cocktail bar, champagne bar and infinity Skypool on level 52 for guests to relax in and take in the stunning cityscape.

One of the most anticipated luxury hotel openings of 2014, Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London occupies levels 34 to 52 of Renzo Piano’s iconic building, The Shard. It includes 202 guestrooms and suites, three distinctive wining and dining experiences, including a breath-taking destination bar on level 52, GŎNG, and Western Europe’s highest infinity pool.
