Dreaming of Festival Season// PartTwo

festival festival festival!!!
We've established that despite the mud and the rain, and the annoying loud drunks at the tent next door at 3am - festival season is so worth it
Now, festival fashion is one of my favourites - but also one of the most misguided. Getting the right mix of practicality and fashion is something that many a style has gotten wrong.
Dos and Don'ts of Festival Style
    Festival.
  • DON'T bother with Maxi dresses. They're pretty but will get soaked in mud, and will weigh you down. You'll end up looking like Elizabeth from Pride&Prejudice after she walked to Netherfield in the rain. Not classy...
  • Only wear a playsuit if you want to have to pretty much strip naked every time you need to use the porta-loos. Bad move, dears, bad move.
  • Leave your heavy waterproofs at home.  They may keep you nice and dry but walking around a festival ground with heavy layers will tire you out pretty fast. Pick up some of those cheap plastic ponchos instead.
  • DO pick some waterproof boots. Doc Marten's, Wellie Boots, that sort of thing. Flip flops, trainers and and kind of sandals are a really bad idea.
  • Always assume it's going to rain - so forget the long trousers. If you're a curvier girl and don't feel comfy in shorts - team them with tights or else some thick leggings.  You can pack a spare of either in your day bag pretty easily.
  • Don't be the girl that chose the white top on the day it rains.  Just don't... Layer with vest tops or choose something that has a print too.

Dress for the occasion. Now we've ruled out the maxi dresses and playsuits, we're left with my festival favorite - shorts and midi skirts. When trying on festival outfits consider if you could tolerate wearing the material if it was slightly soggy (think chaffing demin) and how long it would take you to go to the bathroom whilst wearing them. Practically win. y'know!

Dress for comfort. We all have our body hang ups - but festivals are not the mecca of the skinny - even if shorts are the order of the day. One of the great things about festivals is that most people will dress for comfort - not style, so they really wont be taking any notice of how bad you think you look - just how much fun you are having! For extra comfort avoid anything body-con, and choose something than nips in under the bust then flairs out to give you a waist.
