During this time I tried to find a suitable breast pump to express a decent amount of milk. I tried 4 manual pumps and one electric pump. The one that worked best for me was the Dr Brown's manual breast pump
The breast pump costs £42 if purchased directly from Dr Brown's. It is on the higher end of the price range for manual pumps, but I always find it's better to pay more initially than buy something cheaper and then still have to buy the more expensive item at a later date.
The features of the pump include -
The pump is easy to set up, and simply has a Dr Browns 120ml bottle to catch the expressed milk, obviously this can be used just as a bottle by attaching the teat, so you can express and feed with a very quick turn around.
The pump comes with the same bits and pieces as the bottles, it contains a level 1 teat, collar, cap, vent insert, reservoir tube, travel disc, travel cap, wire vent and cleaning brush.
I found that the pump extremely comfortable and the soft breast cups meant no soreness whilst I was expressing. The hand pump is easy to use and works well, it's doesn't squeaky or make any indiscreet noises, like I found some of the pumps I tried did.
I found let down was very quick with this pump and I was able to express a decent amount of milk during each use.
The pump was very easy to wash and sterilise, the only downside I found was the rubber in the breast cup stained very quickly with my breast milk, turning it a bit yellow. I would like to see Dr Brown's sell replacement rubbers as I would use this again (if obviously I persuade hubby to have another mini person) but I thin I'd be a little put off if it was yellowed further from being in storage.
*I was sent the item free of charge for the purpose of this review however all thoughts and opinions are my own.*
