DPRK state media reported on 21 July (Sunday) that Cabinet Premier Pak Pong Ju visited the Pu’ndok Cooperative Farm in Chaeryo’ng (Jaeryong) County, the Oguk Cooperative Farm in Anak County and the Changryon and Kwanhae Cooperative Farms in U’nryul County in South Hwanghae Province. According to KCNA farmers in the region “are taking good care of fields despite bad weather conditions in the rainy season, keeping in mind their responsibility for (the) agricultural front, a main front in building an economic power.” Pak toured the cooperative farms to assess the supply and application of fertilizer and he “encouraged exemplary officials and farmers before holding a consultative meeting.” The meeting “stressed the need to boost the enthusiasm of agricultural workers to meet the demand of the sub-workteam management system and drastically increase the grain production to solve the food shortage” and “that agricultural science research organs should carry out the Party’s policy for bringing about a radical turn in seed improvement in order to breed high yielding species suited to the climatic and soil conditions of the country.” Pak Pong Ju’s meeting with cooperative farm officials also “took measures for the State Planning Commission, ministries and national institutions to fully provide fertilizers, fuel and other materials needed for farming.”
