D.P. Is One of the Best 2021 Series on Netflix

I am going to get right to the point. Because of Koo Kyo-hwan, I watched the newest South Korean series on Netflix. He first caught my attention in the 2020 South Korean action-horror film Peninsula (or Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula as marketed in some countries), in which he played Captain Seo.

Yes, I heard you. Peninsula, certainly, was not as good as Train to Busan. However, the actors were fantastic, particularly Koo Kyo-hwan. Captain Seo, his character, slowly drew me every time I see him on screen. And when I saw him play Pajeowi's Leader on Kingdom: Ashin of the North, I knew he was someone to watch out for.

So I searched for his name on Netflix and I came upon D.P.

D.P. (2021) | 1 Season

A young private's assignment to capture army deserters reveals the painful reality endured by each enlistee during his compulsory call of duty.

Starring: Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Sung-kyun

Creators: Han Jun-hee, Kim Bo-Tong

Season one of D.P. (Deserter Pursuit) has a total of six episodes. Each episode has a running time of about an hour, allowing the viewer to get to know the characters and stories. I'm not sure if it's because of the Netflix formula, but it works.

Everything about the script, the actors, the music, the direction, you name it, was well-crafted. Whether or not there is a second season, this season already speaks volumes. That is why I am bold to say that D.P. (2021) is one of the best 2021 series on Netflix.

Question!

Are you a fan of K-Dramas or K-Pop idols? Have you ever wondered what the people who enlisted were going through as they started their 18-month military service? Or, how are they coping with being away from their regular lives? D.P. responds to these inquiries. And, to be honest, the topics addressed in the series are real-world challenges. Those are things that everyone has gone through or is going through right now.

Yes, the series dealt with sensitive issues that can be upsetting. However, there are lighthearted scenes that will make you laugh. D.P. (2021) has a good sense of balance. If you're up for it, I recommend watching this series. It is worth your time.

You can also support the author by purchasing the webtoon if you can get your hands on the original material. The webtoon was published in lezhin from 2015 to 2016.

Kim Bo-tong and Han Jun-hee co-wrote the series, which is based on Kim Bo-tong's webtoon, D.P: Dog Days. Han Jun-hee also directed the series which started streaming on August 27, 2021. Only on Netflix!

By the way, on my MDL account, I posted brief reviews of each episode.

D.P. (2021) | 1 Season 10/10

Rating: 10 out of 10.

D.P. Is One of the Best 2021 Series on Netflix

  1. Netflix has only recently begun to stream this series. I just finished Episode 1 and so far I'm enjoying it! P.S Love the song choices!
  2. Although the first episode was a little heavy, I found it enjoyable. The pilot's story, or should I say stories, completely captivated me. It was an excellent start. Now for the second episode. Initially, it was all laughs, but at the end, there was a wonderful balance that perfectly closed up episode two.
  3. This episode differs from the previous two which is good. Here, we got to know the characters a little better.
  4. This new Netflix K-Drama Series 'D.P.' is really something. The series keeps getting better and better.
  5. Episode 5 is quite heavy on the heart. This story contains a great deal of truth about individuals and life in general. This is the turning point of the series.
  6. A good start and a great ending... I don't know what else to say except to encourage you to watch this series. It is worth your time. And whether or not there is a second season, this already speaks volumes. Side note: We must act, but we must exercise caution.
