Story: Downhill starts when Pete (Ferrell) and Billie (Louis-Dreyfus) take their two sons Finn and Emerson for a family ski vacation. They go through the typical family troubles unaware of the planned avalanches.

In the aftermath of this incident, Billie finds herself feeling like Pete ran from the danger. Now, the family is torn apart by not knowing what really happened and how they dealt with the situation.

Verdict on Downhill

Downhill is a comedy-drama following a family coming to terms with different reactions after an avalanche. It sees the parents questioning the decision they made and how things could be changing for them now. However, the rest of the vacation shows the changes between the two.

This is a remake of Force Majeure that tackled the same subject matter and it doesn’t seem to add anything to that story. In fact, it tends to take more away from it. It doesn’t seem to do enough to make it stand out in any way. This is more proof that not every movie needs to be remade for the American audience.

Final ThoughtsDownhill is more proof not every movie needs to be remade.
