Douglas A-4L Skyhawk

@ Marana Regional Airport, AZ

March 2018

This quiet airfield is the home of Fighting Classics Aircraft Restoration, surrounded by derelict A-4 Skyhawks rescued from boneyards in the hope of being restored to fly once again.  This example was delivered to the US Navy as an A4D, later redesignated A-4C, and later upgraded to an A-4L. Relegated to the AMARG boneyard in 1975, it was rescued in 1997 and wound up here. First flown in 1954, close to 3,000 Skyhawks were produced and saw lengthy service in air forces around the world. A-4s are still in active duty with the Argentine Air Force and Brazilian Naval Aviation.
