This Scooter, in the colors of the VMA-131 “Diamondbacks”, is part of the Pacific Coast Air Museum collection in Santa Rosa. This A-4 was a combat veteran of numerous Vietnam tours before going into Reserve units and ending up in the boneyard in 1989. PCAM acquired this aircraft in 1996 for their collection and restored it in VMA-131 livery to commemorate the last USMC squadron to fly the Skyhawk. This example displays the variety of ordnance and payload carried on the five hardpoints (total capacity 8,500 lb). The Blue Angels used the A-4 for 13 years before switching over to the F/A-18. Even fifty years after the aircraft’s first flight in 1954, some of the nearly 3,000 Skyhawks produced are still in service with air arms around the world. Fuji X-E2s w/18-135mm.
