Police investigations have revealed that the 25-year-old suspect who was arrested for killing the security officer at the Kandy St.Sylvester’s College Stadium is a suspect in another murder.
He has been accused of assaulting and killing a person in Maradana area in 2020 and the related case is currently being heard in the courts, according to the police.
It has also been revealed that the suspect, who grew up in a children’s home, has appeared under two names.
The police say that the murder took place after an argument over a woman while the suspect was having alcohol with the security guard at the St.Sylvester’s Stadium.
The arrested suspect, Wasantha Kumara Thilakaratne alias Thivanka Nanayakkara, has been remanded until February 6 after being produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Courts.
