Dots Jukebox: New Music Part 3 – Gazpacho, False Lights & Melanie De Biasio

Posted on the 26 June 2014 by Music Vstheworld @musicvstheworld

As part of the run-up to my 100th Dots Jukebox, I wanted to do something a little bit different. I asked my music loving friends on Twitter to suggest their favorite song by a new artist (or the most recent they can think of), asking them to do so secretly. I compiled all suggestions, and instead of the normal Dots Jukebox evening, I’ve written a one line review of every song and will be revealing them over the course of two days.

Black Lily by Oslo band Gazpacho is the choice of @amcyoung. By a band formed in 1996, this song is from their 2012 album March of Ghosts. They’ve now brought out a new album, entitled Demon.

Gazpacho
DOTTY VIEW: A rather enchanting, eloquent, rock ballad style song – warm, effective and atmospheric. Listen here…

Suggested by @lsherrington1 are new folk band False Lights and their song Skewball.

DOTTY VIEW: This song is comprised of very traditional sounding folk music fused with electric guitars to make a new, distinctive sound. Check it out here…

@stiggy_78 has selected Melanie De Biasio and her song The Flow, which is from her album No Deal that was released earlier this year.

DOTTY VIEW: Deep, classic, sultry vocals lead this song from the outset, accompanied by a beautifully minimalistic jazz movement.

To be continued…
