Borussia Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid - LIVE!

Borussia Dortmund have work to do if they want to beat Atletico Madrid and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in more than a decade. The Bundesliga were 2-1 down on aggregate after a first-leg defeat in Spain, with goals from Rodrigo De Paul and Samuel Lino putting Atletico in charge before Sebastien Haller halved the deficit late on.

Dortmund are fifth in the Bundesliga and their place in the Champions League next season is under pressure. Home advantage will be crucial tonight; they are unbeaten in their four European matches at Signal Iduna Park this season. Haller will not be involved for the hosts after an ankle injury, while Jadon Sancho is battling illness.

Atletico come into this match on the back of a 3-1 win over Girona on Saturday, moving Diego Simeone's side within four points of third place in La Liga. Although they were regulars in the knockout stages of the Champions League, it has been seven years since they last reached the last four. Whoever comes out on top tonight will face Barcelona or PSG in the semi-finals. Follow all the action with Standard Sport's LIVE blog below!

Griezmann wants to continue his good form

After scoring twice against Girona on Saturday, Antoine Griezmann has now scored 21 goals in all competitions this season.

This is his most productive season since scoring 21 times in 2018/19.

Atletico's Jose Giménez, Mario Hermoso, Koke, Alvaro Morata and Stefan Savic could miss out on a potential first leg semi-final if they are shown a yellow card tonight.

Dortmund trio one booking away from suspension

Emre Can, Mats Hummels and Ian Maatsen should avoid a booking for tonight.

The story continues

A yellow card will rule them out of the first leg of the semi-final with Barcelona or PSG if Dortmund progress tonight.

Slavko Vincic is in charge tonight

The Slovenian has refereed seven Champions League group stage matches since his tournament debut in 2016, including Atletico's 1-0 win over Manchester United in the last 16 in 2021/2022.

Hermoso in for suspended Lino

The only change from the first leg for Atletico Madrid is that Mario Hermoso takes the place of the suspended Samuel Lino.

Lino doubled Atletico's lead, but the Brazilian full-back picked up a yellow card and ruled him out for tonight's encounter.

Brandt preferred Nmecha

Edin Terzic makes one change compared to the first leg, with Julian Brandt starting in place of Felix Nmecha.

Brandt replaced Nmecha at half-time last Wednesday and immediately made an impression.

Borussia Dortmund line-up

This is how Edin Terzic's team starts...

Dortmund's impressive European form

Borussia Dortmund's defeat to Atletico last Wednesday was their first in the Champions League since the opening day defeat to PSG.

They topped the 'Group of Death' and picked up eleven points against PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle before eliminating PSV in the round of 16.

They have not been able to match their fine European form at home.

They are currently fifth in the Bundesliga. However, that could be enough to qualify for next year's Champions League, with England and Germany battling it out for an additional spot in the expanded 36-team tournament.

Simeone wants to reach his fourth semi-final of the Champions League with Atletico

Diego Simeone hopes to lead Atletico to the fourth semi-final of the Champions League under his leadership.

They last reached the semi-finals seven years ago before being knocked out by rivals Real Madrid.

Will that change tonight?

Dortmund looking for first semi-final since 2013

Borussia Dortmund is aiming for their first Champions League semi-final in eleven years.

The German team last reached the last four under Jürgen Klopp.

They beat Real Madrid to reach the final, before losing to Bayern Munich at Wembley - the same venue as this season's showpiece event.

Dortmund vs Atletico head-to-head

After last week's first leg, the two teams have now faced each other five times in the Champions League.

Atletico are currently top, with three wins to Dortmund's two.

Dortmund last hosted Atletico in 2018, where they emerged victorious 4-0.

Diego Simeone expects a 'great Champions League evening'

The Atletico boss expects a "great Champions League evening" in Germany.

"You don't have to say much to the players about the opportunity to be among the best four teams in Europe," said Simeone.

"The team is in good condition."

Terzic praises Dortmund fans ahead of the second leg

Head coach Edin Terzic believes Dortmund's home fans at Signal Iduna Park can help make a difference tonight

"It's unique. It sells out regularly and it has helped us countless times over the years," he said.

"We need a good result against Atletico and we are quite sure that our supporters want to deliver on that and create a good atmosphere.

"So we want to pay them back."

Standard sports prediction

It's difficult to bet against Diego Simeone in a knockout match, although Dortmund's late goal last week could give them a chance to progress.

A 1-1 draw, Atletico takes a 3-2 lead on aggregate.

Atletico team news

Thomas Lemar, Vitolo and Memphis Depay have all been ruled out, while Saúl Ñíguez was substituted early against Girona this weekend and is doubtful for the match.

Goalscorer Samuel Lino in the first leg is suspended. Mario Hermoso has recovered from the thigh injury that ruled him out of the first leg and is likely to start.

Predicted Atletico Madrid XI: Oblak; Molina, Witsel, Gimenez, Hermoso, Azpilicueta; De Paul, Koke, Llorente; Griezmann, Morata

Dortmund team news

Sebastien Haller lasted just ten minutes against Borussia Mönchengladbach before aggravating a left ankle injury and could be out for the rest of the season.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is in doubt after leaving Dortmund's match against Mönchengladbach with back problems.

Donyell Malen recovered sufficiently from his thigh problem to come off the bench and start this week.

Jadon Sancho missed training last week due to an illness, but was able to train this weekend and is likely to feature in some capacity. Ramy Bensebaini is still out with a knee injury.

Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI: Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Sabitzer, Kan; Brandt, Malen, Adeyemi; Full back
