Door of the Month: 18 Rue Du General Beuret

The 15th arrondissement is an area of Paris I rarely frequent. I only have one friend in the area who is always traveling and culturally and history wise there isn’t much going on. I had an appointment in the 15th a few weeks ago and somehow I got lost on the way back to the metro. It’s frustrating to still get lost in Paris but it became a fortunate thing because I would have never found these doors if I wasn’t searching for the metro.
The first door is one of the most unique doors I’ve ever seen: the ironwork is circular. Architect Eugene Petit, who coincidentally designed the Dog Cemetery I wrote about a few years ago, constructed the building in 1912.
I caught this gem of a door out of the corner of my eye as I finally found the metro stop Vaugirard. I love the archway and how there’s an indentation for the female head. I was lucky enough to get into the lobby and photograph the marble inserts and colored tile floor.
Door 1
18 rue du General Beuret, 75015
Metro: Vaugirard
Door 2
14 Place Adolphe Cherioux, 75015
Metro: Vaugirard

I want to thank everyone so much for your kind and sensitive emails and comments about my mother. I'm sorry if I couldn't email you back individually but please know I read each one and was very touched.
