According to some, the doomsday budget ain’t so bad. Citing a teesny-weensy 2% cut to the budget, Maryland Republicans are officially opposed to Governor O’Malley calling a special session to pass a budget that includes tax hikes for almost all Marylanders. Democrats and union officials say the $720 million in cuts will severely impact education funding and state government jobs. Looks like per pupil spending will drop about $100 and 500 state jobs would be abolished. Prince George’s County would loose $98 million in state aid.
