After a surgical procedure at North Shore Animal League in 1994 I couldn’t wait to bring my dog home.
My canine was cleared to return home in the days after she was monitored except for one concern that delayed the shelter from allowing her to leave.
She refused to eat.
I told the man (I don’t remember what his title was there at North Shore) over the phone to give her some table food.
When I called back later in the day, I asked him if my dog had eaten.
He told me she had. He told me that he gave her a hamburger.
My dog tickled me. She didn’t want any dog food she wanted real food!
When I first got her as a young puppy, I shared all my breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks with her.
From then on, she was high-maintenance, and refused to eat what wasn’t edible for us humans.
