Consultant paediatrician Dr.Deepal Perera yesterday said that adults should not take their children who are under the age of 12 to participate in public demonstrations and protest campaigns as the danger of COVID-19 spreading in society remains in Sri Lanka.

“Since the chances of the COVID-19 pandemic spread persisits, parents should act in a prudent manner and desisit from taking their children to public demonstrations and protest campaigns,” Dr.Perera said.

He said that about 10 children are now being treated at Lady Ridgway Hospital,Borella for COVID-19.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading in the country. Many people have forgotten about the COVID-19 pandemic now. Since the children under 12 years are not vaccinated against COVID-19, they are vulnerable to get infected due the careless and irresponsible behavior of parents and adults,” Dr.Perera said.
