As a blogger I find it highly important to stay in sync with what happens in the online community. To get a hang on the Internet of Things and its various opportunistic sectors has become quite an existential requirement for online careerists like us. That is why I am always on the lookout for events and places where such brainstorming and trend-setting discussions happen. This week's DomainX was one such event. I had no idea what I was in for. The even literally changed my conceptions about the online world and made me come to terms with the fact that IoT holds unlimited potential for people like us.

Held at the Taj West End Hotel, in the beautiful and hi-tech city of Bangalore, DomainX brought together the world's leading and rising in the domain industry and put together an intellectual array of ideas and concepts about the current and future scope of the same. If you don't have an idea of what Domaining is then let me make it clear. It is the process of sale and purchase of domains with the main aim being profit. It's like the real estate where each domain like a .com or .net or .info is evaluated on various factors like traffic and revenue potential and then sold to buyers. It is a billion dollar industry and is a host to many millionaire entrepreneurs.
DomainX is headed by Manmeet Pal Singh with Gaurav Kholi being the co-organizer. Other team members include Pankaj Vijajvargiya, Dhairya Cholera and Hardik Modi who did an excellent job organising and managing the event on Friday and Saturday at the exquisite Taj West End.
I knew about Domaining industry beforehand courtesy to friendship with Aishwin Vikhona from Global Websoft who was a major presence in the event. In the two days my entire knowledge and insights about the domain sector were expanded to a whole new level.
This was due to ecstatic meetings and brainstorming sessions with the pros themselves like Ron Jackson, owner of DNJournal, Frank Tillmans and Sophie Piek who were representing Sedo at DomainX. Among other giants were DomainX brand ambassador Deepak Daftari who is also known as the father of Indian domain marketing, Martjin Schneider from HousingAgent.com and Ned O'Meara from Domainer.com.au. All the intriguing session and heightened networking were accompanied by an array of exquisite Indian cuisine which kept us going merrily all the way!
Another major attraction which lit my heart with pride was the book launch of my friend Aishwin Vikhona's book, Sell Domains Fast. It was not all for him as the evening concluded with him bagging the rising star award from the Industry. It was exciting to see domain expert Ron Jackson helping Aishwin promote his book to the aspiring and enthusiastic domainers who learned a lot about mastering the industry from the experts themselves.
DomainX was a glimpse into the unending potential of the Domain industry and how it has helped and can help numerous business people around the globe create successful ventures. I myself was so inspired by my talks and interviews with these experts who have created their own markets and loyal followings based on the top notch and innovative quality of their services.
As the event concluded, I inferred something important. It is important for bloggers and digipreneurs like us to stay focused on our industry: the internet. It will help us know the latest opportunities and who knows there might be something which ends up taking us to all that we have ever dreamt off! I will be on the lookout for such sessions more strongly now than ever before. They might be expensive but trust me, the value addition to your mind, network and portfolio is worth the effort!
