Furthermore, those who don’t have dogs are reported to have increased their stress levels by a staggering 70%.

According to a psychology professor in University of Alberta, having a companion animal decreases stress levels. When employees are less stress, they can be at the top of their game and be more productive. In addition, with dogs around, an employee’s productivity in solving complex problem solving increases. This then gives idea to bring in the pet dogs in the office.

Which, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology Students’ Association (NAITSA) office have done for the past eight years. Some full time employees of NAITSA have brought their dogs at work to accompany them all throughout the day.   The president of NAITSA shared that brining in their furry friends at work have great value. They see dogs as great stress reliever. Hence, there’s no week in NAITSA that one couldn’t see dogs roaming in their office.

Although dogs are allowed in the office, this does not meant that dogs can just do what they want to do. Dogs that accompany their masters at NAITSA are expected to behaved well, mingle with people and above all, be comfortable in an office setup. Dogs go to a safe place when someone has allergy in the office.
