During the campaign, Donald Trump told us that he could solve our nation's problems because he was a "stable genius" and a "great negotiator". We now know that was just wishful thinking on his part. He has demonstrated a remarkable level of incompetence, and he hasn't been able to negotiate a single deal for this country.
That might have been OK -- if the other thing he had told us had turned out to be true. He said he would hire only the "best people" to work in his administration. That turns out to also have been an enormous lie. Trump has not demanded intelligence, competence, or ethics in the people he surrounded himself with (his White House advisors and aides). There is only one requirement -- a blind loyalty to Trump and a willingness to do anything he asks of them (no matter how stupid or unethical it may be).
A new poll has asked the public about those who now surround Trump. About 55% say they are not confident in the ability of Trump's advisors and staff to do the job they were hired to do. And 58% say that Trump does NOT hire the best people.
Those were the results of a new Monmouth University Poll -- done between August 15th and 19th of a national sample of 805 adults, with a margin of error of 3.5 points.
