Ed Balls 2/1 to be first Strictly Come Dancing casualty
Former Labour shadow chancellor Ed Balls is 2/1 with Betway to be the first contestant to be booted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Balls, who lost his seat at the general election last year, looks set to be the first male British politician to attempt to get his hands on the glitterball trophy – an unlikely outcome according to the online bookmaker who offer 33/1 on him being crowned king of the dancefloor.
Optimists can also take 33/1 about the ex-MP wowing the judges and scoring a perfect 40 points for any dance during the series which returns in the autumn.
Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “Since the news that Ed Balls is set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, the only market support we’ve seen has come for him to be the first contestant to be kicked off at 2/1.
“Punters don’t see Balls unearthing an unknown talent on this year’s show and we’ve got him priced at 33/1 to go all the way and land the dancing accolade.”
