Now that we know about the nuances of choosing the next book through Eline and her hosted blog of “How do you choose the next book to read?“, today we are going to discuss Classics with Kim at WriterSideofLife at “Do you read Classics? If so, what is your favorite?“. If you missed out on the fun yesterday, please click on the link and check it out.

The month of June shall be spent discussing various topics of reading and reviewing by hopping from one blog to another in this wonderful activity called ‘Summer Bookish Blog Hops. Want to be part of future Bookish Blog Hops? Join our Facebook group.

Classics! The evergreen of literature. These are the kind of books that are niche in their category and also in the reader base. I could go on a limb and say that literature probably originated with these classics. The art of penmanship and storytelling started with these novels. The language used in the books, the settings, the scenes, the drama, the characters and their behavior to one another – ‘timeless’ originates from the feel of these books.

Be it romancing with Jane Austen through Pride and Prejudice or Emma, unraveling a mystery with Robert Louis Stevenson through The Strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, there is something for everybody here. You could go on an adventure in Treasure Island, get engrossed in Drama through Romeo and Juliet or Macbeth, learn of the Christmas Past through The Christmas Carol, get scared through Dracula or Frankenstein or relax with a cup of tea with Little woman.

Classics cannot be ignored. I doubt there would be a single reader in the world who has not read at least one classic in their lifetime of reading. But not all just go for it. Some love it, some swear by it and some find it difficult to comprehend. Whether you love it or you hate it, you cannot ignore it – that is classics in literature.

Join us in discussing the love, or lack thereof, of Classics and their authors at Kim’s WriterSideofLife today by answering the question “Do you like Classics? If so, which is your favorite?“, where all of us will discuss what Classics mean to us. Today we have Becki Svare (A book lover’s adventure), Leslie Conzatti (Upstream Writer), Fee Kelly (ebookaddicts), Brandy Potter (BrandyPotterBooks) and Jo Linsdell sharing their fascination about Classics.

Tomorrow we shall haul ourselves off to Leslie Conzatti (Upstream Writer) to discuss “Is there a specific genre you like to read during the Summer?” Do join us in the fun and discussion.
