I had someone yesterday who is not a domain investor, say “I would really love to own the name Bcoin.com. I really like it.” I immediately thought I think that name sold this year, I remember seeing it. So I checked Namebio today and yes Bcoin.com expired and closed at $105,999 at GoDaddy on 3/21/26.
The domain name had expired previously, a Chinese registrant paid $8,600 for it in 2014. For whatever reason they allowed this valuable domain name to expire and GoDaddy makes six figures.
So I type in the name to see if an end user purchased it? Nope, another domain investor purchased it and is now looking for $8,888,888 at Afternic.
I just texted my friend, “So about that Bcoin.com, do you have an extra $9m laying around?” He got back to me with some language I cannot repeat after first doubting the price. I told him just type in the domain name and you can see for yourself. After he did that the expletives began.
It’s a great name imo, $9M great? That remains to be seen.
