Diy Reusable Dryer Sheets

DIY REUSABLE DRYER SHEETS

I absolutely love pinching pennies and stretching my budget, don't you? One thing I am not willing to sacrifice in exchange for saving a buck is soft and deliciously scented laundry. I need my fabric softener. BUT I have found a way to make it last longer and still get the same benefits and my favorite scents by watering it down a bit and using less in each load. How did I do this? By making my own Homemade Dryer Sheets! I don't care for ready made dryer sheets, and no these do not provide quite the strength of scent as full fabric softener but it is still obviously there, and they do cut static cling and soften clothes. Pick up a bottle of your favorite brand and scent and give these homemade dryer sheets a try today!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup fabric softener
  • wide mouth pint mason jar
  • ring and lid for jar
  • Cotton Fabric- this particular fabric was an old pair of soft, worn pajama pants, you could also use a piece of flannel, or an old t shirt.
  • scissors

DIRECTIONS:

Cut soft cotton fabric into 5" x 5" squares.

Place water and fabric softener in mason jar, screw on lid and shake well to combine.

Open jar and stuff with cloth squares- I was able to fit about 15 in my jar.

Replace lid and shake mixture around to soak all cloths.

Now you can use your dryer sheets one of two ways- toss into the rinse cycle in the washer just as you would fabric softener, OR - if you ALWAYS miss the rinse cycle like I do then just toss 2-3 in with wet clothes in the dryer. Pile up dry cloths, when you have enough simply refill jar and make another batch.
