Thanks to an unexpected warm front this week that screams summer much more than spring, I stocked up the fridge with watermelon, strawberries, apples, oranges, AND blueberries. Does anyone else uncontrollably binge shop fruit when the weather turns warm? This obsession seems to have spilled over into my creative mind because I’ve got a fun DIY for some fruitastic mini notebooks for you today! They’re inspired by this whimsical line of Juicy notebooks and super easy to make, so check it out down below!

What you’ll need:

  • 8.5″ x 11″ sheets of colored card stock, including green
  • 8.5″ x 11″ sheets of plain white paper
  • bone folder
(optional, but SO great for crisp folded edges!)
  • X-acto knife
  • ruler
  • assorted markers
  • small binder clips or paper clips
  • rubber eraser
  • stapler that unhinges open
  1. Fold a sheet of card stock in half and cut it using a ruler and an X-acto knife (scissors will do just fine too) to produce two rectangles
  2. Fold one of these rectangles in half, and decorate it with a fruity pattern. This will be your book cover!
  3. Repeat step #1 and the first part of step #2 with 5 or 6 sheets of plain white paper to create the inner pages
  4. Unfold all the paper pieces and stack the cover on top of the inner pages. You may want to clip it in place with a couple of paper clips or binder clips to keep any pages from shifting
  5. Place the rubber eraser underneath the crease of the notebook and use it as a surface to staple into, about 1.5″ from the top edge
  6. Flip the notebook over, and dislodge the eraser from the staple. Fold the edges of the staple down to secure (I used the edge of the ruler)
  7. Repeat the previous two steps, but staple 1.5″ from the bottom edge
  8. Fold the booklet, and trim any pages that may be sticking out with the X-acto knife for a nice clean edge
  9. For the bookmark, take the green card stock and tuck it into your notebook, lining up the bottom edges
  10. Draw some leaves at the top in pencil, then connect the ends to the bottom of the page in two straight lines. Cut it out, and stick between the pages.
  11. Write down your summer to-do list in your new mini notebook!
