DIY Floral Chandelier Garland

By Francoisetmoi

April showers have ushered in the May flowers, and everything is greening up nicely here in Minneapolis, seemingly overnight. As I'm writing this morning, I'm looking out into the backyard at the flourishing lavender lilac bushes, and I can't help but be in a good mood because of it! Today's DIY chandelier garland will hopefully also be a mood lifter as it too involves a big dose of Spring flowers.

Spring and summer always seem to be loaded with parties and events: from Mother's Day to birthdays to wedding season, and when it comes to party decor my favorite thing to decorate with is flowers and greens. The #1 reason why is they make such a beautiful statement without much effort on my behalf. They also make the party space feel festive enough that it's usually the only form of decoration I really need to do. Enter the Floral Chandelier Garland that I created for Sugar & Cloth. One and done!

It's created simply by making up a series of mini bouquets and attaching them together with floral wire. When you're ready to hang it, just drape it over the arms of your chandelier and attach the loose ends with one last bit of floral wire.

My secret for making sure my garland stays looking fresh the entire day of the party, is to use all fresh greens + filler flowers, and silk blooms for the statement flowers (like the peonies shown here). Greens retain their water quite well, and the silk blooms will look perfect all day. Not to mention, if you have several events coming up you can re-use the silk flowers in each garland and save a ton. Hop over to Sugar & Cloth and say hi to Ashley for the full tutorial!
