On a visit to style.com where I found this beautiful Akong bracelet I decided to make something similar myself. I was lucky enough to have some beads left over from this months chic maker box and set to it almost instantly. I was actually so excited I genuinely started straight away. The DIY bracelet is pretty simple and takes around 30 minutes to achieve. I just love the beads and the gold details they are so pretty!

The How toabraceletneedweb DIY BRACELET // AKONG INSPIRED

1. You will need : Beads : Large and small, embroidery thread, a t-bar clasp, 1 barrel bead wire, fish wire, 2 crimping beads, pliers, crimping pliers, scissors, jewelry glue or super glue.

2. Attach one side of the clasp to the fish wire using the crimping pliers. To crimp the bead, you need to close the crimping bead over the wire with the second indent (furthest away from the end of the pliers). Then shape the bead with the first indent. Place a small amount of jewelery glue over the bead.

3. Thread on the beads, alternating between the small bead and the large bead.

4. Repeat step 2 with the other component of the clasp.

5. Make the tassel:  Wrap the embroidery thread around something small and tie a knot at the top

7. Cut the ends of the embroidery thread and place a small amount of glue on the ends to avoid fraying.

8. Attach the tassel.

Alternatives :

  • Make the bracelet with elastic to avoid making the clasp.
  • Make a simple tassel with no barrel bead.

 Et voilà c’est fait!*
