Dita Von Teese Wearing the Worlds First 3D Printed Dress, Made...

An amazing advance in technology or what?!
However I cant help but wonder about the impact of 3D printing on the environment, since it deals almost exclusively in plastic at a time when we already produce around 300 Million tones of plastic each year on this planet - only a fraction of which is ever recycled. Even if it is recycled, most plastic can only go through the process once or twice before it degrades and eventually will end up in landfill anyway.
So although i see the amazing merits of advanced technology such as this, I feel like we should be doing something more productive to cut our plastic problem, especially in such a huge industry as fashion, which is known for producing huge amounts of waist, not least of which is through the use of non biodegradable products such as Nylon.
The dress is stunning, sure! Especially worn by the queen of Burlesque herself, Dita Von Teese. Just a shame its not made from silk or plant matter.
